How to Be Successful in an Escape Game

We’re going to be giving you a few hints and tips on how to be successful in an escape room today so you can come up with your own plan to get out within the hour and win. Our tips should help you before you come so you’re fully prepped once we open the doors of our Escape Room and – lock you in!

Have a delegator.

You’ll need a delegator, someone who’s a good team leader, and by that we don’t mean someone who will dominate, take over and simply do the entire thing by themselves while you run along behind. This is someone who’s good at well, delegating, and telling others what needs to be done. That’s also someone who won’t really take part much themselves but cheer everyone on, suggesting places to look and encouraging everyone.

You’ll also need a strong team who talk.

People need to be able to communicate well and get on with each other. Therefore, not a great idea to bring people who don’t get on or who are likely to end up squabbling with each other. Everyone needs a turn to have their say and feel their contribution counts, a happy team will lead to a winning team.

Make sure you’re prepared to search every single corner.

Up on the door frames, down under the chairs, under the carpets or rugs. Place all your clues in a safe place and then go back to them. You can return to them at a later time and then work them all out together as a team. Don’t leave them in a random place on a chair or throw it to one side carelessly, because if you lose one of them, you’ll be stuck. Then you’ll potentially waste precious time trying to find it or be left trying to work it all out without that one essential missing clue.

The Benefits of Brain Teasers and Puzzles

So, how important are brain teasers and puzzles? We know they are no longer associated with helping to keep dementia at bay, so are they of any benefit at all? We think they are and that they do have benefit for anyone wishing to keep their minds active - and that’s whether you’re younger or older. Also, if you’re alone, feeling isolated, taking part in games and puzzles that involve other people not only gets you out of the house, but also helps you to engage with other people.

We believe that Escape Games do bring people together from all walks of life. Regardless of social status, age or where they come from, people come here celebrate milestones in their lives, each other and to get away from the stress of every day living. You could be self-employed and not see anyone from one day to the next, however, with Escape Games you have the perfect way to spend an hour with like-minded individuals, and it doesn’t take up too much time out of your day.

Keeping your mind active may not magically stave off dementia or Alzheimer’s, but what it can do is help keep your neurons active, get your endorphins pumping and help you to use your communication skills to best effect. You could be feeling sluggish after a period of illness or a lack of stimulation, perhaps you haven’t been out in a while. By getting out and taking part in a game like this, you’ll be using problem-solving skills, logical and analytical skills and by sharpening these types of skills you’ll be feeling the benefits of it and feel more alert.

If you’ve had a period of unemployment and you’ve lost your confidence, then taking part in a game such as this could help restore it, helping you to see where your skills lie, and that you have had them in abundance all along.

Puzzles you do at home are all very well, and so are those on a tablet, phone, desktop or laptop, but there’s nothing to beat interacting with other people. By getting outside to socialise you’ll be helping your mental health too, because interaction and avoiding isolation are key factors in keeping mental illness at bay.

Escape Games aren’t just for the confident, employed and the young, for people who are so self-assured or career savvy. They’re also for the shy and the introverted, the lonely and the quiet ones who need to get out every now and again with like-minded individuals.

You won’t need to be a computer expert or a tech genius to take part, here at our Escape Rooms, all you need are your wits about you, good communication skills and an ability to think on your feet. You have an hour in which to find some clues, work them out and then unlock the room. It’s great fun and no tech skills are required, so if you’re worried about that, then don’t. All are welcome here at Escape.

If you’d like to test your grey matter with friends or family, then why not come on down and visit us here at Escape Peterborough. We’d love to see you and we give a warm welcome to everyone that passes through our door. If you have any questions about what we’ve discussed today, give us a call, or you can call us simply to book your room, or if you prefer you can book online. The Games at Escape Peterborough

Today we’re going to be talking about the games at Escape Peterborough. We’ve got our own specially created themes for each room and we can guarantee that each one is well worth the hour you’ll spend in it. We spend time making sure that all our visitors have a great time while they’re here, and no stone is left unturned in making sure this is the ultimate live interactive experience and the best one you’ll ever have.

There are several rooms here and each one has a different theme. The themes are usually taken from popular culture such as our first one, 221B Bakers Street. If you don’t recognise the street, then where have you been? It’s the address of that most famous detective of course, Sherlock Holmes, so as you can imagine the theme for this one centres around detective work.

Our next games room is Taken and that’s from the famous film. In our Escape Room, you’ll need to find your friend who’s been kidnapped, but in this room, you could be locked in with the killer.

Next, we have The Bank Heist and Espionage which are of a similar nature and are self-explanatory, if you’re into high jinks, and excitement then these rooms are for you. We also have Contagion, The Cabin and Witchcraft and Wizardry. The first two are fairly easy to understand and you’ll need to have your wits about you, you’ll be dealing with viruses, crack thieves, violence and conspiracy – are you up for it? The final one is all Harry Potter magic and wands, so if that’s what you’re into, you’ll love it.

The final rooms are all based around a central theme of Escape the Priestgate Vaults” which are Buried Alive, The Hunt and The Great Wine Cellar Swindle. These are vaults rather than actual rooms, and if you have mobility problems, it probably won’t be a good idea for you to take part. Expect some shocks and surprises, this isn’t for the faint of heart!

Escape Peterborough – for the best experience in live interactive games.

If we’ve now whetted your appetite for Escape, then make your way down here, you can book a room, either online or over the phone, let the fun begin!

How to Be Successful in an Escape Room

If you’re planning on paying us a visit here at Escape Peterborough, you’re probably wondering what you can do to be successful. It’s not the end of the world if you’re not, because you’re always welcome to come and try again as many times as you like. We have lots of people who come and try to beat the clock.

Today, we’re looking at how you can be successful in an escape room and we have no doubt that once you’ve read our tips, you’ll be well on the way to successfully beating the clock.

A good team with a mix of skills is a strong team

As you know an escape room is a game where you are locked in a room and have to solve a series of clues before you can escape. In order to have a chance of success, you need to have a good team with a lot of different talent to bring to the game. You’ll be looking for good maths skills, someone attentive, someone logical and some people with excellent problem-solving skills. And of course, you want people who are good at communicating and working as part of a team.

Search every nook and corner

Once you start looking for clues make sure you look everywhere, top, bottom and in every corner you can find. Once you find the clues, place each one in a central place where you can go back to them once you have found them all. Don’t leave them somewhere where you may lose them and have to start searching for them all-over again.

Don’t remain stuck on one clue

Don’t stick to one clue if you’re stuck, go on to the next and come back to it afresh. Time spent on one clue for too long and you’ll waste precious time. Work methodically and calmly and you have a better chance of success.

Don’t allow any one person to dominate the game, they may lead the team astray

This isn’t a platform for one person with a loud voice and an ego to satisfy to demonstrate their talent, this is a game that needs everyone to have their say and work as part of a team, so allow this to happen. It helps if your team has a mixture of different characteristics that all compliment each other. That’s preferable to a group of people who are very quiet and introverted or a group of extroverts who are fighting to be the loudest, funniest and the most dominant.

Escape Peterborough – for the most fun you can have in a locked room

If you now think you can have a crack at it and possibly win, why not book your room and come on down? We’d love to see you here and we guarantee that even if you’re not successful you’ll still enjoy yourself, it’s so much fun and we can’t wait to see you here, so book your escape room today.

Best Team Building Activities

If you’ve got a project looming and you’re looking to improve team building through various activities that foster collaboration and communication, then we’ve come up with a few team building activities and ideas you’ll want to explore. Read on and find out where your next team building activity is.

Military Style Boot Camp

This isn’t for everyone, but if your team are fairly healthy with a reasonable level of fitness, then they may want to try out a military style boot camp. These types of camps are usually put together by ex-military and they’ll be the right people to put your team through this gruelling yet fun boot camp. It’ll be a great way of identifying your team’s strengths and their weaknesses as well as getting them out and about taking part in some healthy exercise.

Cook Off?

You could split your team into two and then pit them against each other with a cooking challenge. By creating new recipes and dishes together they’ll be thinking carefully about how they can win, challenging each other’s skills, trying very hard to create the best dish of all.

Volleyball, Zipwire and Beachball.

Games of this nature can be great fun and a perfect opportunity to bond with each other. They can pick up new skills, and you can identify ones they didn’t know they even had, so back at the office, you can utilise them to best effect. If they’re playing against each other, it’s all about teamwork, victory and competition, with no particular individual allowed to dominate, everyone must work together.

Board Games

Yes, you could have a games tournament with your team split into separate groups where they can pit themselves against each other in a mini-tournament. You can even do it at work in a separate room where each person can leave their desk for a designated period of time to compete. It doesn’t matter what it is, whether it’s Jenga or simple card games, if it gets people talking to each other and breaks the ice with new members, then it’s a worthwhile endeavour. You’ll also be able to see who’s good at working out puzzles and problems and how they work their way through any obstacles.

Why Are Escape Rooms So Popular

There are plenty of reasons why our Escape rooms are so popular and we’ll be going over some of them today. There has been a growing trend for escape rooms here in the UK in recent years and it continues to be a growing phenomenon. An attractive attribute of Escape Rooms are that they are fantastic for the family activities, corporate events and team building events.

What Is An Escape Room Then?

If you don’t know what an escape room is, then you will find this blog insightful. An escape room is a concept so simple you wonder how on earth you didn’t come up with it yourself. It consists of you being  part of a group of people who are locked in a room, usually a room with a theme, and then finding their way out in 60 minutes. In that 60 minutes, you’ll have a series of clues, cryptic, puzzles and maps which they use to help escape. A group is better than one person, because you help each other out – and that’s where the team bit comes in.

Team Building Activities Are Popular With Corporate Companies

It also explains why they’re so popular with corporate firms because they help with team building activities. They help improve critical thinking, problem-solving and lateral thinking. The team must work together, and as a result they communicate better. You also have the benefit of finding out what their skills are so you can utilise them to best effect when you’re back in the office.

Escape Games Are For Everyone

For the regular visitor, escape rooms make great birthday presents, or just simple group days out with friends and/or family. Whether you’re celebrating something or you’re just having a good time with friends, an escape room is a great way of loosening up and enjoying yourself. If you’re after a fun day out that really tests your mettle, your cognitive skills and makes you laugh, then an escape room is the perfect answer.

How to Be Successful in Escape Rooms

How can you be successful in our escape rooms? If you want to win within the 60 minutes you’re in there, you’ll need a strategy and you’ll need the right people with you in your team before you start. Thankfully, you’ve got us to help you, so just get in there and read our fabulous guide to be the most successful you can be in our escape rooms.

Carefully Choose Who You Take With You

Firstly, which group people do you plan on taking with you? Do they all possess the skills needed to win? But what are those skills? Well, what you need are skills such as attention to detail, ideally someone who is really observant. You also want people who are good at communicating and working as part of a team. It’s not all about one individual, the better you all work together, the better the chance of escaping. You don’t someone who’s going to start squabbling with other people in order to get out.

If you’re stuck, let the games-master know!

If you need a clue, don’t be afraid to ask for one, because it may be the difference between getting out or losing. If you really are stuck then don’t be a schmuck, let whoever is running the game know and ask for that all important clue.

Don’t lose your clues!

As you collect all your clues once you’ve found them, the last thing you want to do is lose them all. Find a safe place to keep them until you reach the end. What you don’t want is to misplace one or two of them and then not be able to decipher the remaining clues to get out. You’ll need all of them not just a few, in order for them to make sense.
